A peaceful gathering of sailors was held in the port of Gaženica in support of three colleagues against whom the State Attorney's Office has launched an investigation due to the tragedy that occurred in August 2024 on the Lastovo ferry. Despite the investigation conducted by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure and the Maritime Accident Investigation Agency, which found responsibility in the President of the Management Board and the Jadrolinija Company itself, the investigation was launched only against the sailors. While the Croatian Seafarers' Union, together with the umbrella global trade union organization (ITF), is fighting against the criminalization of seafarers worldwide, it is happening that, if the indictment against the three colleagues is indeed filed, for the first time seafarers in the country will be accused of something for which they are evidently not guilty.
