Croatia - Protest of teachers - April 30, 2025

More than five hundred teachers, professional staff and other workers in the preschool system gathered in Zagreb to protest against the failure to implement the law that would equalize salaries in early and preschool education with salaries in primary schools, and poor working conditions. The organizers of the protest, the SIDRO Association, the Croatian Education, Media and Culture Union (SOMK) and the professional associations of educators "Krijesnice" Čakovec and "Terina" Vukovar, pointed out that the system lacks more than 7,000 educators, technical and administrative staff and professional associates. Furthermore, kindergarten groups are too large and the State Pedagogical Standard is not respected, which endangers the safety of children and workers.
