As of 1 January 2026, the minimum monthly wage should be 1,213 BGN (€ 620.2), up from the current 1,077 BGN (€ 550.66), according to the chief economist of CITUB, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria. This represents an increase of 12.63%. The trade union representatives find it difficult to understand why the draft government decree for setting the new wage has still not been published, given that all the necessary data from the national statistics are already available. The law states that by September 1 there must be a decree from the Council of Ministers proposing the new minimum wage for public discussion.
