On 15 May, employees of the three public service media — the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), Bulgarian National Television (BNT) and Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) —staged a national protest. The rally is demanding increased state funding to secure a 15% pay raise for the staff, who currently receive what they describe as insultingly low wages. This includes journalists, editors, camera operators, technicians, singers, orchestra members, etc. The protest took place under the slogan “Work In The Media Has Value”. The protest is organized by the trade union structures of The Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) and the Confederation of Labour "Podkrepa".
