During a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation the labour ministry proposed amendments to the Labour Code that trade unions described as a “sham” transposition of the EU directive on adequate minimum wages and collective bargaining. The Government warned of a possible fine of €2 million from the EU if the proposed Labour Code changes are not passed by end of 2025. The fine‑risk comes amid tension between Government and unions over social dialogue and collective bargaining frameworks.
