The talks on an interprofessional (intersectoral) agreement are deadlocked, while the wage norm leaves no room for additional wages above the index for this year and next. The Federal Minister of Employment therefore came up with a mediation proposal in mid-May and asked the social partners to put their heads together on this by 7 June. That social consultation has now fallen through, the unions report. They specifically wanted to reach an agreement on a framework for negotiating at sectoral level on the increase of the maximum contribution for meal vouchers. The coalition agreement stipulates that this must be increased twice by € 2 in the current legislature. In addition, the unions also want to make one-off premiums possible. According to the unions, however, the employers "reject all proposals".
