Turkey - Minimum wage rises 30% - December 31, 2024

On 24 December, the Labour and Social Security Minister announced that the minimum wage will increase to 22,104 Liras (€ 602) net per month starting 1 January 2025. This represents a 30% hike from the current 17,002 liras (€ 463). Pointing out that the minimum wage is determined through a social dialogue mechanism, the minister said that they worked to adopt "the most balanced level" by evaluating macroeconomic dynamics as well as the suggestions of workers’ and employers’ representatives. The Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (Türk-İş), which represents workers in minimum wage negotiations, boycotted the meeting on 24 December. The union stated that it "decided not to attend the meeting organized without any information on the minimum wage proposal."
