Public service workers gathered to protest against austerity measures. Organised by the union VPOD, the demonstration underscored the urgent need for fair inflation compensation and an end to policies that cut public services and undermine workers. The protest called attention to rising living costs, which have left many workers struggling while cities refuse to address wage stagnation. Trade union support reflects wider concerns about austerity policies at all levels of government. Across the country public service workers are bearing the brunt of budget cuts despite stable finances and surpluses.
