Slovenia - New wage law for public services - October 31, 2024

Trade unions, including the Confederation of Public Sector Trade Unions (KSJS) and the Trade Union of Health and Social Care, have negotiated a new wage law with the Government, set to be enacted on 1 January 2025. The legislation introduces automatic inflation adjustments to protect wages against rising costs, ensuring public service workers maintain purchasing power even as the economy fluctuates. Additionally, the law establishes a revised pay scale to bring more transparency and fairness to public services compensation, addressing longstanding union concerns about wage disparities. Key benefits will also be expanded under the law, with a focus on supporting workers' well-being and enhancing job security.
