Fisheries inspectors represented by the union SINTAP have announced a strike from October 21 to December 31. The strike covers all workers in the fisheries inspection career, who will abstain from performing overtime, participating in external services, and engaging in international missions. The decision to strike comes after the lack of a satisfactory response from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Secretary of State for Fisheries to the inspectors’ demands. These demands include improving working conditions, particularly during operations at sea and in remote areas, and revising compensation for the highly specialized and demanding nature of their work. The inspectors argue that they are not being adequately compensated for overtime or international duties.
