Poland - Nurses demand higher pay - November 30, 2024

Nurses staged a protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office over underfinancing and heavy understaffing of their professional group. The protest, organised by the National Union of Nurses and Midwives (OZZPiP), the largest union of medical professionals, called on the Prime Minister to take action following the collapse of talks with the health ministry. The protesting nurses want to convince the Prime Minister to accept a citizens' bill on raising the minimum pay in the healthcare sector. They argued that due to the lack of legal solutions nurses and midwives are not paid in accordance with their education, but according to the classification of the position they hold.
