Negotiations mediated by the National Mediator brought an end to a nearly three-week-long strike. The agreement covers workers in social services, housing and care sectors, and asylum reception centres. The strike, led by unions Fagforbundet and Delta, secured a general wage increase with the increase retroactively effective from 1 August 2024. Minimum wage rates will also rise significantly for workers in housing and care services, child protection, mental health. A key priority in the negotiations was ensuring that businesses operating within housing and care services for exposed and vulnerable groups move toward achieving wage parity with others in the industry. This agreement represents meaningful progress in addressing these longstanding disparities, aligning pay more closely with comparable sectors.
