Trade unions reached an extension of the collective agreement in electrical sector roles, making key protections legally binding for all workers, including foreign and temporary ones. Beginning 1 November 2024, this “general application” covers minimum wage standards, overtime pay, a 37.5-hour workweek, and allowances for travel and accommodation, benefiting all electricians, line workers, and related technicians, regardless of union membership. Previously, only parts of the collective agreement applied, leaving temporary and foreign workers without full protections if they weren’t union members. This extension prevents wage dumping and promotes fair treatment across the industry.
