Netherlands - Union membership fell to 15% in 2023 - September 30, 2024

According to Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the number of union members continues to fall. Last year, only 15% of workers between the ages of 15 and 75 were members of a trade union, compared to 18% in 2018. According to CBS, union membership steadily decreased from 18.4% in 2018 to 17.5% in 2020, 16.3% in 2022, and 15.4% last year. Trade union CNV called CBS’s figures outdated, telling that the statistics office only looked at figures up to the end of March 2023. After that, CNV gained more members.
