Luxembourg - Union criticizes education policy - January 31, 2024

According to the OGBL Education and Science Syndicate, the government’s neoliberal education policy is undermining Luxembourg’s public schools. Authority, severity and consistency no longer played a role. This is a danger to society. Since the education reform in 2009, the former authority figures of teachers have been transformed into so-called “public service officials in the context of teaching”. According to the OGBL, the entire education system is permeated by a neoliberal logic; education is treated as a product that must “adapt to the wishes and ideas of consumers”. For the OGBL, this is a possible reason for the wave of burnout among teachers.
