The Tripartite Council, representing the Government, employers, and trade unions, agreed that the monthly minimum wage should be raised from January 2025, but failed to reach an agreement on how much. Workers representatives want a 15% increase, to € 1,070 a month (before tax), while employers are arguing for a more modest raise to € 1,016. The majority of trade unions supported the agreement reached by the Council a few years ago and proposed to raise the minimum monthly wage to € 1,070 from next year, so that it would reach 50% of the average wage.
