Italy - Trade unions call for strike of metal workers - September 30, 2024

Trade unions have agreed on a series of strikes and protests against car manufacturer Stellantis. The workers are disgruntled with the low car production volumes that keep faltering. The U.S. automotive corporation had promised them a production rate of a million vehicles per year, but has failed to reach that number. Furthermore, the volumes have actually dropped as of late, threatening the factory personnel with wage cuts and layoffs. According to the calculations performed by the union FIM-CISL, Stellantis is on track to producing only 500,000 vehicles in Italy in 2024.
