Italy - New security law threatens right to protests - October 31, 2024

A new security law introduced by the Government and currently under review in the Senate, has sparked significant concern among trade unions. The law introduces restrictions on peaceful protests, including penalties for passive resistance and roadblocks during demonstrations. Trade unions organized protests to oppose the bill, which is now under consideration by the Senate. CISL recently held a sit-in in Rome, calling for substantial changes to the law, particularly regarding the criminalization of roadblocks during union demonstrations.
