Several trade unions, Fp Cgil, Uil Fpl and Uil Pa, called for a national demonstration in Rome on 19 October. The unions demanded the renewal of collective agreements for public service workers, as well as better funding for national contracts and public healthcare. With inflation soaring, proposed wage increases of around 5% are seen as insufficient, particularly in a sector already facing significant challenges. The demonstration, titled "Salary, health, rights, employment," aims to shed light on the growing inequalities and the impact of differentiated autonomy on public services. Unions are calling for a special plan for employment to address chronic understaffing across all public sectors, including healthcare. The unions have emphasized the lack of meaningful engagement from the government in current negotiations, warning that the dignity of workers and citizens’ constitutionally protected rights are at risk.
