Germany - Pay rise of 11% for cleaners - November 30, 2024

In the building cleaning trade, union IG Bau reached a collective agreement in the fourth round of negotiations on 15 November. From 1 January 2025, the wages of cleaners will increase by € 0.75 per hour, and a year later by the same amount again. In the lowest wage group 1, the wage will then be € 15 per hour. In wage groups 6 and 7, the hourly wage will first increase by € 0.95 and in the second step by € 0.75. The industry minimum wage for glass and facade cleaners (wage group 6) will therefore ultimately be € 18.40. Training allowances will also be increased from 1 January 2025: in the first year of training by € 100 to € 1000 euros, in the second year by € 115 to € 1150 and in the third year by € 100 to € 1300. The term of the collective agreement is two years. From November 2025, a permanent annual special payment will also be negotiated.
