The union IG Metall has reached a collective agreement with the employers' association Metall Niedersachsen/Bremen and the Land Bau Technik Handwerks- und Handelsverband Niedersachsen e.V. in the fourth round of negotiations for metalworking and agricultural technology in Lower Saxony and Bremen. With retroactive effect from 1 April 2024, wages and training allowances will increase by 6.25% for a period of 15 months. The union had demanded 7.3% for 12 months. The collective agreement was preceded by warning strikes by IG Metall, for the first time in 20 years. Over 1,000 employees took part. The collective agreement runs until 31 May 2025.
