The number of working days lost to strikes doubled in 2023 compared with the previous year to more than 1.5 million. In its strike report 2023, the Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI) registered 312 industrial disputes in 2023, which were accompanied by a total of more than 10,000 work stoppages in companies and institutions. The number of industrial disputes in 2023 thus increased significantly compared to the previous year. In 2023, the vast majority of industrial disputes took place in the context of company-wide collective bargaining rounds.
