After intensive negotiations, the union IG BCE and the employers have agreed on a new collective agreement that brings several improvements for 46,000 employees in the paper industry. Wages will increase by a total of 5.9% in three stages: by 2.5% from January 2025; by 2% from January 2026; and by 1.4% from October 2026. There is also a one-off payment of € 100 for October to December 2024. The collective agreement is valid for 27 months and runs until 31 December 2026. It was agreed to start concrete discussions on benefits for union members in the first quarter of 2025. A decision on how this will be implemented is to be made by the end of 2026. More than 10,000 employees have put pressure on the negotiations nationwide with around 70 actions such as rallies and political lunch breaks.
