Germany - 12% higher wages in wholesale and foreign trade - June 30, 2024

The union ver.di and the Bavarian State Association for Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services (LGAD) have agreed on a collective agreement. The agreement was preceded by several months of tough wage disputes. In Bavaria, around 240,000 people work in wholesale and foreign trade. Wages will increase by 5.1% retroactively to 1 October 2023. There as a further increase of 5% retroactively to 1 May 2024. There will be a further increase of 2% on 1 May 2025. In addition, there is a one-off inflation compensation premium of € 1,000, which cannot be offset against previous payments. The collective agreement has a term of 36 months.
