France - Strikes in public sector - August 31, 2024

Workers at the RATP, which manages the Paris public transport services, are on a renewable strike notice demanding bonuses for work during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Teachers’ unions are calling for a walkout of teachers at nurseries (maternelles) and primary schools (écoles élémentaire) to protest against a new system of standardised assessments for younger students as well as the large class sizes. Several unions representing laboratory workers have announced their intention to strike over a reduction in Government funding for the sector.
