The Government announced a 2% increase in the minimum wage (SMIC), taking effect on 1 November 2024.This adjustment raises the hourly SMIC from € 11.65 to € 11.88. The value of the SMIC is automatically updated on 1 January each year, based on inflation and purchasing power. So, this 2% increase in November 2024 is actually in anticipation of the increase usually scheduled for January 2025. It is done by evaluating the inflation observed by 20% of households with the lowest incomes. Moreover, each increase of at least 2% in the consumer price index is automatically followed by an increase in the minimum wage in the same proportion.
