France - 3-month strike notice by public services - August 31, 2024

The CGT Public Services Federation has announced a strike from July 1 to September 30, 2024. This action involves employees and agents across various public sectors, including central, local and regional government. The strike is a response to several grievances, prominently the Government's policies perceived as favouring the wealthy while undermining social unity. Public sector workers are particularly aggrieved by the proposed bill "for the efficiency of the Civil Service." The CGT's demands include general salary increases, a 10% immediate raise in the civil servants' remuneration index point, pension improvements, and equal pay for women and men. The federation also calls for the repeal of recent pension and civil service reforms and rejects the individualization of salaries and careers based on merit.
