The Industrial Union has issued a fourth strike warning for a work stoppage on 10 December. The warning applies to 32 companies and a total of 113 locations with around 7,500 workers. The union is negotiating a new collective agreement with the employers' organisation, the Technology Industries of Finland. Unions are obliged to maintain industrial peace — that is, not go on strike — when a collective agreement is in force. The current agreement ends on 30 November. Unions that are part of the blue-collar SAK confederation have announced their intention to demand a 10% wage increase for their members. They say that employees' purchasing power has been decimated in recent years, and corrective action is needed.
