Finland - Demonstration against private collective agreement - December 31, 2024

Employees of companies owned by the municipality of Vaasa demonstrated against the proposal of the municipality to apply a private sector collective agreement to these companies. The city management wants to use this to strengthen the competitiveness and cost-efficiency of the group companies, which among other things would mean fewer vacation days. The demonstration was successful, since the group section decided after a vote to support municipal collective agreements. Nevertheless, the city council has the right to take over the matter, so the issue is not necessarily settled yet.
