Croatia - Strike warning in public sector - December 31, 2024

Public service unions have rejected the Government's offer to raise basic wages by 5% in 2025 and are demanding an 8% increase. At the same time, they also demand payment of funds for a hot meal of € 50. The president of the Preporod School Union said that after the Government's refusal, there will either be a fifth round of negotiations, which they say will not happen, or a reconciliation procedure. He reiterated that the public service unions disagreed because the offer was too low. Commenting on the fact that 1.347 workers of Croatian Radio and Television HRT have a basic salary of less than € 904, and 733 workers less than € 758, he said that the unions will certainly support the strike in HRT.
