Firefighters’ trade unions, organised a rally in Zagreb in order to address enduring grievances about the professional status and rights of firefighters across local and county jurisdictions. The protest was initiated following announcements of the closure of firefighting units due to financial constraints. Emphasizing the delayed implementation of crucial legislative measures since their mandated deadline in 2020, firefighters are calling on government authorities and the chief fire commander for immediate action. Central demands include standardizing remuneration frameworks across firefighting service tiers and augmenting decentralized financial allocations for firefighting tasks.
