Belgium - Demonstration of security guards - October 31, 2024

Around 450 people gathered for a demonstration in Brussels organised by the ABVV-FGTB (General Labour Federation of Belgium) for workers in the security guard sector. Employees and union delegates protested outside the offices of Arxia, the professional federation for the private security sector, expressing their frustration with loud noise and red and green smoke flares. According to the union, pay should reflect the difficulty and the flexibility expected of security guards. In addition to a wage increase, the union also demands better social dialogue. They criticise employers for their lack of respect towards union representatives.
