Austria - New agreement in retail - December 31, 2024

After five rounds of negotiations, the union GPA and the employers in retail reached a new collective agreement. Retail employees will receive a 3.3% salary increase in 2025, and in 2026 it will be 0.5% more than the rolling inflation. However, the increase in 2026 will decrease as inflation rises; if inflation is 3% or higher, the social partners will meet again. The apprentice salary in the first year of training will rise from € 880 to € 1,000 next year. Negotiations for the approximately 415,000 employees and 15,000 apprentices in retail began on 23 October, when the GPA union was still demanding a 4.8% pay increase. The employers initially offered 2.8%.
