Sweden - Conflict between unions and automobile producer escalates - November 30, 2023

The conflict between trade unions and automobile manufacturer Tesla heated up as a supplier of critical components joined in a sympathy action to get the electric car maker to sign a collective agreement for its Swedish workers. According to the union IF Metall, around 50 workers that make specialized Tesla components at Hydro Extrusions will either stay at home or be given other tasks until further notice. IF Metall is locked in a fight with Tesla to get a collective agreement for its 130 mechanics in Sweden. IF Metall put the mechanics on strike on 27 October, refusing to service Tesla's cars.
