The Government will make it clearer who is to be considered employees and expand the employer's responsibility. Trade union confederation LO supports the Government’s proposal and believes this will strengthen employees’ rights and opportunities. The LO secretary points out that misclassification of employees as self-employed is a major and growing societal problem. When workers are classified as selfemployed, they lose social security rights, are left without occupational injury insurance, occupational health and safety legislation does not apply, nor collective agreements, and they do not receive pension accruals, holiday pay or holiday time.
