Netherlands - Strikes in hospitals announced - February 28, 2023

In mid-March, hospitals across the country will close their doors to non-emergency care. More than fifty hospitals have already indicated that they will participate in this Sunday service, the ultimate strike tool in hospitals. It is quite unique that the trade unions FNV Zorg & Welzijn, CNV Zorg & Welzijn, NU'91 and FBZ immediately proceed to a national hospital strike. The strike is a response to the lack of a decent collective agreement for the more than 200,000 hospital employees. The employers’ association NVZ announced that it would not comply with the demands of the trade unions, as stated in an ultimatum.
