Latvia - Teachers’ union threatens with strike - February 28, 2023

Latvian Trade Union of Education and Science Workers (LIZDA) has sent a letter to the Government, the Saeima and other state institutions in which it accuses state officials of non-compliance with regulations. The trade union reports having noticed non-compliance with multiple existing legislative acts from the side of state officials, which affects people employed in the education and science sector. Previously LIZDA gave the government time until 15 March to comply with the demands presented in the last strike. Otherwise, teachers will organise a nation-wide strike on 24 April.
