The trade union ver.di called on retail workers to go on strike on Friday, October 27, 2023. After more than half a year of collective bargaining in 13 collective bargaining areas, there is neither a collective agreement nor an improved offer from the employers. For 2023, employers are offering an effective increase of on average of 5.3% in retail and of 5.1% in wholesale and foreign trade. The offer for 2024 is even lower. ver.di is demanding an hourly pay rise by € 2.50 in retail in the 2023 collective bargaining round. The training allowances are to be increased by between € 200 and € 250, depending on the area. In addition, the union is demanding a minimum wage of € 13.50 per hour. In wholesale and foreign trade, ver.di is demanding a wage increase of 13%, or € 425 depending on the collective bargaining area, for all employees.
