On 23 March 2023 the Parliament adopted several amendments to the immigration law so that companies can more easily recruit workers from outside the European Union and the European Economic Area (EEA). The aim of the reform is to support the economy and address the skills shortage. The new law, which will come into effect on 1 April 2023, was tabled on 9 February 2023 and is based on a political agreement reached in June 2022 between the previous government and a number of parties.
