Negotiations for the collective agreement in the social economy – private care, health and social work – started with the unions handing over their demands to the employers’ association SWÖ. Around 130,000 employees are affected by the collective agreement, primarily women working part-time. According to the unions, the median income in the sector is 22% below the median income of the whole economy. The unions GPA and vida demand a pay increase of 15% with a minimum of € 400.The first round of negotiations took place on 17 October.
