Sweden - Union demands abolishment of waiting period - March 31, 2022

Union confederation LO demands the abolishment of the waiting period for sickness pay. According to the union, it hits hardest on workers, who can rarely work from home but go to work every day to ensure the functioning of society. While in the white-collar professions many employees can work from home despite minor illness or sick children, this is more difficult for many workers in other professions. In the event of illness, the choice is between being pressured privately with a lost daily income or risking one’s own and others’ health by working sick.
