Netherlands - Wages rise faster - January 31, 2022

Trade union FNV noted an upward trend in wage increases in the 32 collective agreements that the union has concluded since 1 December 2021. In 2021 the average wage increase was 1.45%; currently it is 2.14%. In 2021, wages did not rise sufficiently to compensate for inflation. Good wage increases have been agreed in the metal and electrical industry (2.65%) and professional freight transport (3.38%). The FNV concluded 291 collective agreements in 2021. In 15% of the collective agreements a minimum hourly wage of €14 was included. 41% of the collective agreements include clauses on more permanent jobs and job security.
