Inflation has reached levels reminiscent of the 1990s. Low-income households suffer particularly from price increases, as food, energy, transport and housing make up much larger portions of their household budgets. Losses in real wages in recent years make matters worse. In order to maintain social peace in the country, union LANV demands that the loss of purchasing power of the employees from the past few years be compensated. According to the union, significant wage increases of 3-5% are urgently needed.
