Latvia - Union suspends strike action in health sector - March 31, 2022

Health workers’ union LVSADA decided to temporarily postpone the strike and to try resolving the issue of timely and fair wage growth in the health sector through the National Tripartite Cooperation Council. The union had been planning to take strike action to put pressure on the government to deliver pay increases that were promised last year. The union had called for a 10% pay rise for health staff from the beginning of January this year. The union underlines how important protecting purchasing power is as part of the strategy to tackle the major staff shortages across the sector.
