Teachers’ trade union PDSZ sent an open letter to the prime minister demanding higher wages without delay and the withdrawal of decisions regarding the itemised tax for small businesses (kata) and utility fees. In the letter, PDSZ said ‘you have repeatedly stated that the wage demands of workers in public education were justified but we have been told at strike negotiations and through the press that wage increase, no matter how small, is only possible in the current budget situation if Brussels provides support’. PDSZ considers it justified that the low wages for police and soldiers are increased but demands at least the same level of increase for public education workers with immediate effect.
