After lengthy negotiations, union ver.di was able to reach a collective agreement in the tenth round of negotiations with the Central Association of German Seaport Companies that provides for significant pay increases and offsets the rate of price increases. Around 12,000 employees at the North Sea ports benefit from this result. Employees can look forward to wage increases of between 7.9 and 9.4% from 1 July 2022. From 1 June 2023, wages will increase by a further 4.4%. What is special is that an inflation clause was agreed: a price increase rate of up to 5.5% will be compensated. In the event of a higher inflation rate, a negotiation obligation and a special right of termination were agreed upon between the parties.
