Germany - Real wages decline by 3.6% - August 31, 2022

Taking into account the collective agreements concluded in the first half of 2022 as well as the agreements and the wage increases already agreed in previous years for 2022, this year, collectively agreed wages will rise nominally by an average of 2.9%. Against the background of inflation in the first half of 2022, this will result in a decline of real wages by 3.6%. This is the result of an analysis done by the collective bargaining archive of the Economic and Social Research Institute (WSI) of the Hans Bockler Foundation.
