According to the National Statistical Institute (NSI), the average gross monthly wage rose by 9% year-on- year to 1,593 levs (€815) in the first quarter of 2022. On a quarterly basis, the average gross monthly wage slid by 1.2% in the January-March period. The highest average wage, of 4,060 levs (€2,070), was recorded in the information and communications sector, followed by financial and insurance activities with 2,540 levs (€1,295). By contrast, the accommodation and food services sector had the lowest gross wage, of 964 levs (€492). On an annual basis, the average monthly wages in the public sector increased by 1.8% whereas those in the private sector rose by 11.6%.
