Romania - Teachers willing to go on strike for higher wages - December 31, 2021

Two thirds (67.5%) of education workers want a general strike according to a poll conducted by three trade unions in the sector. Teaching staff were supposed to benefit from higher salaries provided by the Framework Law no. 153/2017, which took effect in September 2020. In fact, only a quarter of the wage correction envisaged over 2018-2022 has been granted (in January 2020), and inflation has risen by 11% since then.
