Three trade union federations marked International Workers' Day by staging a protest performance, called ‘The last train to a better normal’, at Zagreb's Central Station at five minutes before midnight, to stop the price of labour from being lowered further and the deprivation of workers' rights. Since traditional trade union marches and public protests could not be held because of the coronavirus epidemic, the Federation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH), the Independent Croatian Trade Unions (NHS) and the Matica Association of Croatian Trade Unions (MHS) organised a midnight performance to draw attention to the emigration of workers in search of more secure jobs and higher wages.
